With good fights on his card, the Jungle Fight 25 opened the organization's 2011 show season in style. The event, which was held this Saturday (19), in the city of Vila Velha, in Espírito Santo, had as its main attraction the fight between welterweights Edilberto Crocotá and Sérgio Júnior, who drew in the Jungle Fight 24, held in December 2010
As in the first fight, the athletes repeated a balanced duel, but showing greater strength in their blows and benefiting from Crocotá's loss of a point. In the final moments of the fight, Sérgio Júnior emerged victorious in a split decision from the judges. With the triumph, the fighter from Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, has 21 wins, seven defeats and three draws. After the fight, Sérgio revealed his desire to debut in events outside Brazil.
“I hope this fight opens doors for me abroad, as it did for many athletes who fought in the Jungle,” said the native of Rio Grande do Norte.
In the dispute for the World Boxing Organization's Latin American belt, the Nicaraguan boxer, Elvin Perez, took the initiative from the beginning of the fight against the Brazilian Luciano “Eye of the Tiger”. After taking a slight advantage in the first round, the Nicaraguan unleashed his game in the second round and with a sequence of straight shots and crosses he knocked the Brazilian down. The central referee opened the count, but realizing that Luciano was no longer able to continue, he ended the fight, declaring a technical knockout.
Among the other fights of the night, the highlight was the victory of Renato Moicano, who recovered from a disadvantage against Andrezinho Nogueira in the first round, to impose his game in the following rounds and emerge with victory in the unanimous decision of the judges. With the result, the athlete from Brasília remains undefeated in MMA, with four victories in his career.
