After winning Anderson Silva on the main card of UFC 200, this Saturday (9), Daniel Cormier I was relieved. The lineal light heavyweight champion admitted that he was under intense pressure for the fight, so he believed a negative result would be “catastrophic”.

Cormier was originally going to fight Jon Jones for the unification of the linear and interim titles of the division up to 93 kg. However, with his rival's doping, his new opponent became Anderson, who accepted the fight two days in advance.
Faced with the emotional turmoil he experienced, Cormier confessed that he only did what was necessary to emerge victorious. “People don't understand what I've been through this past week, so to go out there and beat someone like Anderson Silva it’s enough for me”, he said, in a press conference after the fight. “I feel relieved. It was a very difficult week. I went from heaven, when I saw my face on the gym poster, to hell, when Jon left the fight. Then I heard that Anderson would fight me, but I wasn't sure until Friday morning, while I was trying to make weight. With the stress, my body no longer reacted to the weight cut. It's been a long week, but now I feel relieved. Anderson fought on two days' notice, and fought as best he could. All my respect to him, but it would have been catastrophic if I had lost. So, I’m relieved,” he added.
With the result, Cormier continues with a good sequence of results, adding to his third consecutive victory. Anderson continues with the fast that has lasted since October 2013.
