After competing for the UFC lightweight title on two occasions, Kenny Florian announced that it will change categories. Through his Twitter, the North American announced that he will make his debut in the featherweight division and is already thinking about challenging for the division's belt, currently held by the Brazilian José Aldo.

Kenny, who participated in the first edition of The Ultimate Fighter, the UFC's reality show, in the middleweight division, guaranteed that he will not abandon the lightweight division.
