Rafael dos Anjos adopted a very direct speech to analyze his defeat to Eddie Alvarez at UFC Fight Night 90, this Thursday (7), which cost him the UFC lightweight belt. The Brazilian stated that he was well trained for combat, so the credit for the result goes entirely to the North American.

Dos Anjos was dethroned from the UFC's under-70 kg division in the first round, when he lost by technical knockout after suffering from his opponent's boxing. Instead of pointing out any mistakes of his own that he may have made, the now former champion congratulated Alvarez. “I have no excuses. I was in the best shape of my life, so I give all the credit to Eddie. He did a great job. My guard was up when I was caught. Fights are like that. I had won ten of my 11 fights, but the credit goes to Eddie,” he said, at a press conference shortly after the fight.
With the result, Brazil was momentarily left without any UFC belt. However, Dos Anjos doesn't see this as a big problem. “I was the only one missing, but I think Brazil is where it all started. We have a lot of Brazilian fighters and we have been doing this for a long time. New champions will come, I believe”, he analyzed.
In the next few days, however, this could change: on Friday (8), Claudia Gadelha challenges Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the women's straw belt; on Saturday (9), at UFC 200, José Aldo faces Frankie Edgar for the interim featherweight belt, and Amanda nunes magpie Miesha Tate with an eye on the women's bantamweight title.
