In preparation for his rematch against Nate diaz, scheduled for August, Conor McGregor invested heavily in human material for its training. One of his partners was professional boxer Chris van Heerden, who sparred with the UFC fighter a few months ago. In this case, the plan may have backfired: Van Heerden accused McGregor of editing video of their training to make it “look good”.

McGregor posted some images of the training in his web series, called “The Mac Life”. Van Heerden, a former IBO (International Boxing Organization) and IBF (International Boxing Federation) boxing champion, stated that the UFC fighter's staff selected images to make McGregor look better than he actually is.

“When you have to cut and edit a video clip to choose images and make it look good, it shows me your true character,” the boxer wrote on his Twitter account. Shortly afterwards, faced with the controversy caused by his message, Van Heerden posted the tweet and apologized.

“After a good night's sleep, you all got me thinking. I apologize for my tweets, I should have kept it to myself. Conor did me a favor after all,” she declared.

Van Heerden and McGregor trained in California (USA) in May, amid speculation that the Irishman would face Floyd Mayweather in boxing. At the time, the South African fighter said that the UFC champion was skilled, but that Mayweather could end the fight as soon as he wanted.
