Faced with the complicated mission of debunking Jon Jones at UFC 200, next Saturday (9), Daniel Cormier believes that his rival is no longer the same fighter who devastated the light heavyweight division in recent years.

For the current linear champion of the category, Jones' excessive partying and drug abuse are already beginning to have their first consequences on the fighter's performance. “You have to pay for all the parties and other things. Now, we're seeing that this is starting to take a toll. He lived like a candle that burns at both ends and now he is coming to the moment where he is coming to an end. This is the situation he finds himself in today. He’s not the same guy he was before”, analyzed Cormier, in a press conference reproduced on the website of the North American broadcaster “FOX Sports”.

Even though he is nine years older than his opponent, Cormier feels younger than Jones, a thesis that gained even more strength after “Bones”’s fight against Jones. Ovince St Preux, in April, when he won in unimpressive fashion. “He may be 28 years old, but he's actually lived a lot longer than that with the nights out and other things he's done. I'm older, I'm 37 years old, but I never wore myself out too much and became a middle-aged man at 28. That's the person he is today: that slow guy who was in the octagon on April 23rd [at UFC 197 ], which looked like rubbish”, he said.

Cormier, linear champion of the category, and Jones, interim champion, will face the main duel of UFC 200, in the city of Las Vegas, in the United States.
