A frightening scene marked the Legacy FC 56 event, held last Friday (24), in Dallas, United States. Steven Peterson eliminated Manny Vazquez with a rear naked choke to win the bantamweight belt, but the referee took a while to realize what had happened and help the defeated fighter.

In the fourth round of the fight, Peterson got to his opponent's back and immediately applied a choke. Vazquez didn't crash and went out seconds later, but Steve Armstrong, the third man in the cage, didn't notice. Vazquez began to have involuntary spasms until, long after he had lost consciousness, the referee finally stopped it.

The owner of Legacy FC, Mick Maynard, was also scared by what happened. “It was scary to see it in person. I think it had been out for about eight seconds already,” he commented.
