Vitor belfort was looking for a new opportunity to compete for the UFC title, but saw his plan suffer a setback in May. At UFC 198, in Curitiba (PR), the “Phenomenon” was largely dominated by Ronaldo Jacare and ended up losing by technical knockout. Belfort, well known for his aggressiveness, admits that he behaved excessively passively in the Octagon. “I thought the moment would come, I was waiting. Sometimes, when we wait too long, the saddled horse is there, but doesn't come back. The first moment he clinches, I take him out and, instead of attacking, I return to the middle. I lacked aggression in the fight. I started being very aggressive in my career, then I started to wait, I became more surgical… I have to attack again. It was the worst performance of my career”, he analyzed, in an interview on the website of the “Combate” channel.
However, Belfort guarantees that he has already put the defeat behind him. Now, seeking recovery, he is considering training with the Brazilian Glover Teixeira. “It’s forward ball. We have to know how to move forward and not backwards. The secret I have written down so far: 'Never let success get into your head and don't let failure get into your heart'. So we can't dwell on it, we have to get it out. As Michael Jordan himself said, how many times has he left his team in the lurch, given that ball... Several times.
