Athlete in the UFC welterweight category, Tim means he was forced to take six months without fighting to serve a suspension for doping. Faced with the impossibility of working for his “breadwinner”, the North American chose to take a small turn in his career: he found a job that has nothing to do with fighting.

Means would be in the main fight of UFC Fight Night 83 in February, against Donald Cerrone. However, he ended up being cut from the fight because he was caught taking a doping test during the preparation period. After conversations with the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), the fighter was suspended for one semester, retroactive to the date of the test.

“I found another job. I couldn't stay in 'fight mode', nor was I in the mindset to fight, so I started learning how to craft metal. I went from something I'm good at and was at the top to the other extreme, at the bottom. It was an experience that left me very humble. I didn't know anything about it and I wasn't even interested. I put the worst possible scenario in my head. I have two daughters, so I didn't have time to wait around and start getting stressed. I needed to keep my head busy”, commented Means, in an interview with the podcast “The MMA Hour”.

Means, 32 years old, has seven wins in the UFC, compared to four losses. In his most recent fight, he knocked out John Howard in December last year.
