Fedor says he's closer than ever to signing with UFC

Russian fighter says he never received another proposal like the one recently offered by Ultimate

For almost ten years, the MMA world has seen negotiations between the UFC and Fedor Emelianenko end unsuccessfully. However, this time, the situation may be different, and the two parties are finally close to reaching a satisfactory agreement. The one who guarantees it is the Russian fighter himself.

Fedor, 39 years old, revealed to the podcast “The MMA Hour” that he had never before received a proposal like the one made by Ultimate recently. “In a word, yes, the possibility exists. I always wanted to fight for the UFC and I would, but at this moment, we are looking at an agreement that pleases both parties. Until we agree 100% on terms, we are basically in limbo. All I'm saying is we've never received a proposal like this. Yes, we received an offer, but there are still some things we need to discuss”, commented the athlete.

The Russian is considered one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time. Over the past decade, Emelianenko established himself as Japan's dominant PRIDE heavyweight champion, but did not transfer to the UFC when the two organizations merged. He returns to action this Friday (17), when he catches Fabio Maldonado at the Fight Nights event in Russia.
