MMA fans have often been frustrated with their expectations of seeing Fedor Emelianenko, considered the greatest heavyweight in history, fighting in the UFC. However, when hopes seemed to be over, the fighter himself came forward to rekindle the flame, stating that there is, indeed, a chance for the expected agreement to finally come to fruition.
Even though he has a contract with the Rizin organization, a partner of Bellator (UFC's biggest rival), and with a fight scheduled at the Fight Nights event in June, Fedor stated that he is still in negotiations, and that he is confident in its successful outcome. “We continue negotiating with the UFC. We do not rule out the organization. The probability [of me fighting there] is very high”, said Fedor, in an interview with the “SovSports” website.
When the UFC acquired PRIDE in 2007, Fedor was one of the few athletes who did not migrate from the extinct Japanese organization to Ultimate.
