The North American, who is coming off a victory over the Brazilian Thomas almeida at the end of May, he declared that he had been thinking about fighting Cruz since he was a teenager. “I’ve been visualizing myself knocking out this guy since I was 16 years old. When he was in the WEC, he was the guy I knew would be in my way, and now it's surreal that it's almost happening. So I'm ready for him mentally. Now all you have to do is do your physical preparation and get the call. He's a great fighter, but with my style, I'd knock him out ten times in ten fights. I’m already in your head”, he commented, in an interview with the North American “FOX Sports”.

Garbrandt, 24 years old, has a perfect record in professional MMA, with nine wins in nine fights. His last two victories were against Brazilians: before knocking out Thominhas, he had also knocked out Augusto Tanquinho. Cruz, on the other hand, is much more experienced, with 22 wins and just one loss in MMA – the setback happened in 2007.
