15 days before his UFC debut, the Brazilian Rani Yaya does not have a defined opponent for his fight in the 23rd edition of UFC Fight Night, titled UFC Fight for the Troops 2. Initially, the Brazilian athlete would face the South Korean Chan sung jung, however the Asian fighter suffered an injury during his training and will not be able to be in action on the 22nd of this month.

Yahya is coming off two consecutive defeats in the now-defunct WEC, a fact that further increases the importance of his first fight in the UFC in order to avoid a possible dismissal from the organization in the event of a setback. It is worth noting that the Brazilian already had the opportunity to compete for the WEC featherweight belt, but ended up losing to the North American Chase beebe in the unanimous decision of the judges at WEC 30.
