The athlete, alongside her coach, Pavel Fedotov, was there when three thieves invaded and robbed the restaurant's cashier and customers' belongings. Fedotov, who was armed, reacted and shot the robbers, one of whom died instantly and the other two managed to escape.

In the midst of the confusion, Fedotov was hit in the abdomen and remains in hospital. A few days after the episode, Valentina considers that her coach's actions were solely aimed at defending both of their lives.

“I was at the back of the restaurant and saw that the bandits went from table to table, taking everyone's goods, without anyone helping them. When they approached our table, Pavel acted determined and courageous. If criminals saw the gun he was carrying, they would think he was a police officer. It was very likely that he would be killed with his own weapon. Pavel's attitude was not only self-defense, but also defense of my life and the people who were by my side. Now, thank God, Pavel is recovering”, said the fighter.

Despite the confusion, Valentina remains confirmed in the main fight of UFC Chicago, next month, when she faces the former champion of the category Holly holm.
