MMA fans are more than accustomed to the routine that precedes an Ultimate card. With open training, fighter interviews and the official weigh-in approximately 24 hours before the start of the event. However, this time, there will be a significant change in the schedule and the official UFC 199 weigh-in will take place 30 hours before the fights and away from the public eye.

The change is part of a package of innovations proposed by the California Athletic Commission. According to the new rules, the official weigh-in takes place every two hours, in a location defined by the entity – which in the case of UFC 199 must be a room in the fighters' hotel, closed to fans and the press, between 10 am and 12 pm (local time) on Friday (3). Scales will be available for athletes to check their weight, but only one attempt per fighter will be allowed on the Commission's official scale. With the weight lost, they will be free to start the rehydration process sooner.
Hours later, the “Official Weigh-in” event promoted by Ultimate will take place, as usual. On stage, however, the weight that will be announced will be what the athletes reached earlier, as they will already be well above the limit at that moment. Soon after, the traditional face-offs will take place, as usual.
The official weigh-in for UFC 199, at least the one that the public will be able to watch, takes place from 20pm (Brasília time) this Friday (3). You, as always, follow everything about the event on SUPER FIGHTS, including live video transmission.
