'I'm almost ready to retire,' says Henderson

UFC's oldest active athlete admits indecision about his future and says he will make a decision after his next fight

The oldest active UFC athlete and considered one of the greatest living legends in the history of MMA, Dan Henderson You may be very close to saying goodbye. The 45-year-old veteran says he is “almost ready” for retirement and admits that his next fight, against Hector Lombard, at UFC 199 (June 4), could mark his farewell.

The duel will represent Henderson's last commitment under his current contract with the UFC. Regardless of whether he wins or loses, the American declared that he will still meet with the organization to decide whether to stop or continue.

“I'm definitely capable of continuing and competing at a high level, but I'm almost ready to retire. Depending on how things go after this fight, yes, it could be my last. Or maybe I'll still fight, I don't know yet. I know, from the bottom of my heart, what I'm capable of, so if I decide to keep fighting, I'm sure I'll do well", said Henderson, in an interview with the website "MMA Junkie".

Henderson made history in the ring and octagons by winning victories over Rodrigo Minotauro, Fedor Emelianenko, Mauritius Shogun, Vitor belfort, Rich Franklin, Wanderlei Silva, Murilo Bustamante, among many others. However, he is not going through a good moment: of his last eight fights, he has lost six.
