Shortly after winning the heavyweight belt at UFC 198, by beating Fabricio Werdum in Curitiba (PR), Stipe Miocic He made a point of mentioning the importance of his title for the city of Cleveland, where he lives and is a member of the Fire Department. Therefore, the fighter made a point of taking the belt to the Quicken Loans Arena, during the NBA Eastern Conference Final between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors, and was honored by the home team.
Before the match, Miocic, who broke a fast of more than 60 years without a team or athlete from Cleveland winning an important title in North American sports, was introduced by announcer of the team and greeted by the local fans. “Thank you, Cavs, for letting me come support you. And especially for giving me a shout out on the court during the game. It was an incredible day, I'm so grateful for the teams in Cleveland,” the fighter wrote on his profile on Instagram.
Miocic's presence appears to have brought good luck to the Cavaliers. LeBron James & Co.'s team easily beat the Toronto Raptors, 115 to 84, and took a one-zero lead in the Eastern Conference final series.
