Werdum plummets and Demian rises in the UFC rankings

Former heavyweight champion lost no less than 11 positions on the pound-for-pound list after being knocked out at an event in Curitiba

UFC 198, an event held last Saturday (14), in Curitiba, had different developments for the Brazilian fighters who participated in the event. Fabricio Werdum, who lost the belt to Stipe Miocic, fell on the weight-for-pound list, while Demian Maia grew up among welterweights.

Werdum, who was knocked out in the first round, dropped no less than 11 positions on the list that includes fighters from all categories. Now, he occupies 15th place, two below Miocic, who makes his debut in 13th. The leader is Jon JonesFollowed by Demetrious Johnson e Luke Rockhold. Among the heavyweights, however, Werdum remains in first place – remembering that the champions are not mentioned.

Demian Maia, who submitted Matt Brown on the preliminary card, gained two positions at welterweight. He is now the fourth, leaving behind Carlos Condit, last weight challenger, and John hendricks, former champion.

Other Brazilians who received good news were Thiago Marreta, which now appears in the middleweight rankings, in 14th, and Mauritius Shogun, which surpassed Rashad evans among light heavyweights and now occupies seventh place.
