In recent years, the MMA world has been shocked by two fractures suffered by big names in the sport: Tyrone Spong and, mainly, Anderson Silva, who were injured in combat. This weekend, the undesirable list gained the addition of former UFC fighter George Roop who suffered an injury during the South Korean Road FC event.
Roop was facing Yoon Jun Lee and, at one point in the fight, tried a front kick. When touching the opponent's abdominal region, however, Roop suffered a fracture in his foot – which, it is believed, may have even had repercussions on the shin region. Immediately, the fighter felt the severity of the injury and did not even put his foot on the ground again. Due to the injury, the fight was stopped and Lee declared the winner by technical knockout.
This was George Roop's first fight since leaving the UFC. The 34-year-old American has a professional MMA record of 14 wins, 13 losses and one draw.
