Glover and Paulão win at Bitetti Combat 8

Bitetti Combat held its eighth edition this Saturday night. The event, which was produced in partnership with Corinthians, had some obstacles such as a 40-minute delay in the start of the show. Even so, nothing took away the shine of Glover Teixeira. The Brazilian athlete was not aware of the Spaniard Daniel Tabera and scored his ninth consecutive victory in his career. Already Paul Philo managed to find his way back to victory and defeated the Japanese Yuki Sassaki in the unanimous decision of the judges.

Glover dominates and beats Tabera

With alternate opponents on the eve of the event, Glover Teixeira did not become aware of the Spaniard Daniel Tabera. The Brazilian set an intense pace in the fight from the beginning until the third round, working hard in his striking and very efficiently on the ground. The fight between Paul Philo and Yuki Sassaki should have happened at Bitetti Combat 6, but the Brazilian's problems with the organization of the event prevented the fight. However, tonight the differences between the athletes were settled and the Brazilian athlete left the Octagon victorious. Paulão tried to shorten the distance and escape the Japanese's dangerous exchange. During the three rounds, the BTT athlete worked in the clinch and took down the Japanese fighter several times, from where he managed to get into good positions, but without being able to finish. Jordan Smith and Mario Soldado have the best fight of the event

In the most balanced fight of the night, North American Jordan Smith and Brazilian Mario Soldado provided a duel worthy of applause. At the beginning of the fight, Solado worked better at close range and on the ground, while Smith landed the best blows in his striking. In the second round, the North American connected the best blows and knocked the Brazilian down, but the Brazilian athlete managed to recover and almost ended the fight in the triangle. In the last and decisive round, Smith kept the pace fast, while Mario was already showing a lot of fatigue. With just under a minute left in the fight, the Brazilian went to the ground and the North American got to his back and finished the duel with a beautiful rear naked choke.

Thiago Jambo beats Japanese in decision
In yet another international fight, Thiago Jambo had a lot of difficulty against Eiji Ishikaua. After a first round dominating the fight, the Brazilian had to defend himself from the Japanese's takedown attempts in the following rounds. Well prepared, Jambo managed to reverse most of the attempts and take advantage of the side referees' scores. After the three regulatory rounds, Thiago Jambo won with a unanimous decision from the judges.

Viscardi knocks out Flávio Álvaro in devastating fashion
In one of the most anticipated fights of the event, Viscardi Andrade didn’t give Flávio Álvaro a chance. At the beginning of the fight, Flávio went on the attack, but when he attacked without protecting himself, he was counterattacked with a right cross, knocking Álvaro out in just 34 seconds.

 

Cristiano Marcello finishes quickly
If in the first international fight, the Argentines had the upper hand, in the second Cristiano Marcello put everything the same way. Facing Guido Caneti, the Tupiniquim black belt started the duel by keeping a long distance, but soon closed the gap and took down the Argentine. From then on, Cristiano got to his back and finished the duel with a tight rear-naked choke in just 1m30s of the fight.

 

Argentine beats Brazilian in first international fight

In the first international fight of the event, Argentine Luciano Izzi got the better of Brazilian Eneas Gringo. Invited to replace Marcelo Nigue at the last minute, Gringo started the fight with a strong low kick, but was soon knocked down and felt a rib injury and ended up withdrawing from the fight after just three fights.

 

Mateus Serafian takes away Thomas Saldiva's unbeaten record

Mateus Serafim and Thomas Saldiva had a very balanced duel in the first round. With a lot of striking, the athletes accepted the frank exchange of blows and brought the audience to their feet. In the second round, Serafim returned ready to end the fight and after landing good blows in his striking, he took Saldiva to the ground and ended the fight with several punches from the mount.

 

Toninho Fúria beats Eduardo Santos

In the first fight of the event, Toninho Fúria started with everything against Eduardo Santos. The MTB athlete soon put him down and tried to work with punches from above, but a good pedal stroke caused Fúria to walk backwards and Eduardo to get up. However, when he was taken down again, Santos dislocated his shoulder and dragged himself to the end of the first round. The second round took a while to restart, as doctors tried to put Eduardo's shoulder back in place. But unable to fight, the Chute Boxe athlete was knocked down and felt the injury again, the referee ended the fight and declared a technical knockout.
