Anderson was diagnosed with acute cholecystitis earlier this week and needed surgery this Wednesday. As the procedure was successful, “Spider” will possibly be able to return to training within a month and a half.

Acute cholecystitis is nothing more than inflammation in the gallbladder, located near the liver. The organ is responsible for storing bile, a liquid produced by the liver that digests fat. Inflammation occurs, in most cases, due to obstruction of the channels that direct bile to the duodenum, which may be a consequence of gallstones or even tumors.

However, there are cases of acute cholecystitis that can also be caused by other factors, such as severe trauma and successive processes of weight gain and loss.

The diagnosis is made through blood tests (which would indicate a large increase in white blood cells), as well as x-rays in the abdominal region. If the disease is not treated, the condition can evolve into a generalized infection and even cause death. The treatment considered ideal for this type of inflammation is the total removal of the gallbladder, which does not interfere with the functioning of the patient's digestive system.

Anderson's withdrawal from the event promoted the fight between Warlley alves e Bryan barberena to the main card of UFC 198. The most important duel of the show will be between the heavyweights Fabricio Werdum e Stipe Miocic, valid for the category belt.
