But despite being undefeated for three fights, Couture is going through a new phase of his career. The 47-year-old American has turned his attention to cinema, where he recently participated in the film “The Expendables”, by Sylvester Stallone.

When analyzing his current moment in the UFC, Couture admitted that he does not have the same potential as a few years ago. The athlete highlighted that new talents are emerging in the UFC and that at any moment these revelations will be ready to carry out great battles similar to the ones he once starred in in the North American octagons.

“This was a good year in which I had great fights, but unfortunately I don't see myself fighting for a belt again. Now is the time for this new crop of fighters that has been emerging to seek their place in the sun,” he said.

Although the current UFC light heavyweight champion, Mauricio “Shogun”, has made clear his desire to face Couture in the near future, the American declared that there is a strong possibility that he will not fight in 2011.

“There is a 70% chance that I will move away from MMA next year. At the moment I am only focused on cinema, as I intend to carry out more projects related to this segment”, added Couture.
