Less than four days away, the UFC 198 card suffered a serious blow. Former middleweight champion, Anderson Silva is out of next Saturday's event (14) in Curitiba (PR). The reason for Anderson's cut was severe abdominal pain suffered by Spider, which was diagnosed as acute cholecystitis – inflammation of the gallbladder.

The information was first released by the “Yahoo Sports” website and confirmed by the Ultimate organization moments later. In an interview with the North American publication, UFC doctor, Dr. Jeff Davidson, said that Spider will undergo tests this Tuesday (10) and, only then, will it be determined whether he will need surgery.

“Anderson developed abdominal pain on Monday and further evaluation today revealed acute cholecystitis. He will be examined by a surgeon later today to possibly undergo surgery,” said Dr. Davidson.

At the event next Saturday (14), Anderson Silva would face the Jamaican Uriah Hall, in a duel valid for the middleweight category. Given the proximity of fight night, Hall should be removed from the schedule. Furthermore, the Ultimate organization has not yet announced whether there will be a promotion of a fight from the preliminary card to the main card or whether the schedule of the biggest fights will continue with only four fights.
