UFC featherweight champion, Conor McGregor He is arguably one of the biggest stars in MMA today, including being one of the highest-earning athletes in the sport. However, the Irishman experiences both sides of fame. Concerned about death threats, the fighter increased his personal security during an event in Dublin, last Friday (6).
According to the Irish newspaper “Irish Sun”, McGregor was bothered by some threats he received recently. “[During the party] McGregor was relaxed and in a great mood, but his security guards didn’t take their eyes off him for a minute. Everyone who wanted to take a photo or exchange an idea with Conor had to be searched. He told people that the security guards were called Rocky and Drago and that he hired them because of the death threats,” a source told the publication.
McGregor won the UFC 66 kg title in December last year, when he beat José Aldo with a lightning knockout. His next fight would be against Nate diaz, at UFC 200, but the duel was canceled after McGregor refused to go to the United States to participate in a press conference.
