The Brazilian José Aldo will not be able to defend his first belt in the UFC. The organization's newly official featherweight champion compressed a vertebra during his training for UFC 125, an event that has caused constant tingling in his arms.

Manauara would face the North American Josh Grispi on January 1st in Las Vegas. The probability is that Grispi will fight for the interim belt in the category, but so far there is no concrete information about this possible fight nor who will replace the Brazilian athlete.

Aldo received his belt last Saturday night from the hands of UFC president, Dana White. Holder of the WEC featherweight title, Aldo was recognized as the first champion of the UFC division after the merger of both organizations. Starting next year, the UFC will feature, in addition to its five traditional categories, featherweight and bantamweight fights.
