“Rampage” recognizes Lyoto’s superiority in UFC-123

The 123rd edition of the UFC ended controversially last Saturday. In the main fight of the night, the North American Quinton “Rampage”Jackson defeated the Brazilian Lyoto Machida in the judges' split decision, a fact that generated many discussions about the judging criteria used in the event.

According to Lyoto, Jackson admitted that he was not the winner of the fight and that he would be willing to face him again in the UFC. Still according to the Brazilian, “Rampage” is a great athlete not only inside but also outside the octagon, deserving of all his achievements obtained during his extensive career in MMA.

“After the winner was announced, Quinton (Jackson) told me that I shouldn't be disappointed with the official result because, in his opinion, I had won the fight. I thanked him for his words, because only a champion like him can have a great attitude like this”, he said.

Lyoto has 16 wins and two losses on his record, having gone eight fights undefeated in the UFC between 2007 and 2009. Despite the setback, the Bahian based in Pará is already thinking about the future of his professional career.

 

“My journey continues and it will not be a defeat that will hinder my plans to regain the light heavyweight belt. I have to make this stumble an opportunity to improve myself even more as a fighter”, said Lyoto.

To avoid further repercussions regarding the result of the fight, UFC president, Dana White, denied the possibility of an immediate rematch between the fighters. According to White, the judges’ decision was correct and “Rampage” deserved the victory (check here).
