This Thursday (29), former UFC fighter Fábio Maldonado surprised MMA fans with a statement that was as sincere as it was shocking, when he admitted that he would use doping for his fight against Fedor Emelianenko, in June, in Russia. After all the repercussions of his comment, Maldonado took to social media and explained the situation. According to “Caipira de Aço”, it was all just a joke.

“I spoke to several reporters about my next fight and one of the questions was whether I was going to take 'bomb' or steroids, I don't know what… 'Juice', for the fight against Fedor. I replied that 'it was full of poisons, of juices', but I thought it was a joke by the reporter and I didn't think it would be taken seriously. He also said that it is necessary to be careful nowadays with supplements, so as not to fall into anti-doping. If any fans are disappointed in me, I apologize. I have been taking anti-doping tests since 2003 when I made my boxing debut in the USA and I am open to taking anti-doping tests, which I have done all my life”, wrote the fighter, on his official profile on Instagram.
