The head coach of Conor McGregor, John Kavanagh, still trusts that his pupil will reach an agreement with Ultimate and will be selected again to fight at UFC 200, an event that takes place on July 9th, in Las Vegas (USA).

Initially, McGregor would have the main fight of the night against Nate diaz, but ended up being cut from the show after refusing to leave Europe and go to Las Vegas last week for a press conference. Even so, Kavanagh still has some hope that the parties will reach consensus and that the original plan will move forward.

“I'm 51% optimistic and 49% pessimistic, if you want to know what I think. I don't think we're past the point of no return. There is mutual respect on both sides. Dana [White] and Lorenzo [Fertitta] are no-nonsense businessmen. I have no doubt that we will maintain our tradition for the next fight: Lorenzo will bring his bottle of whiskey, we will make our traditional toast and move on”, commented Kavanagh, in an interview with the podcast “The MMA Hour”.

Last week, McGregor was training with his team at a gym in Reykjavik, Iceland, and didn't want to abandon his plans to go to Las Vegas. Kavanagh supports the fighter's decision and stated that there were alternatives to this. “The way the world is right now, we don’t need to physically be in places to be involved. I don't understand what this obsession with Las Vegas is. UFC is a global sport, not a Las Vegas sport. I don’t see why everything needs to be done there,” he commented.
