Joseph Benavidez (E) vs. Wagnney Fabiano (D)
The 11nd edition of the WEC takes place tonight (52), in Las Vegas, in the United States. The show, which will hold its penultimate edition before its merger with the UFC, will feature 10 MMA fights with two Brazilians in action. On the preliminary card, Raphael Assunção seeks to recover from a sequence of two consecutive defeats against the experienced L.C. Davis, while, in between the main fights, Wagnney fabiano will have a tough time ahead Joseph Benavidez, an athlete who is coming off a defeat in the WEC bantamweight belt fight against Dominick Cruz.
The WEC-52 main event will mark the debut of Urijah faber in the bantamweight category against the Japanese Takeya mizugaki. The “California Kid” shows confidence for his debut in the new division
“I'm excited to take on this new division and test myself against one of the best bantamweights in the world,” said Faber. “Mizugaki is really difficult, but I'm ready to make an impact and work to become a champion again,” added the 31-year-old fighter.
Mizugaki recognizes Faber's talent, but is confident in his victory.
“I never ran away from difficult fights, so I'm excited to fight Urijah”, commented the Japanese. “His first fight in this division will not be easy. I just think about beating him”, he concluded.
