After Conor McGregor to officially speak out regarding his departure from UFC 200, several other Ultimate fighters gave their opinion regarding the controversial episode. The UFC flyweight champion, Demetrious Johnson, stated that the Irishman has complete right to position himself in the way he thinks is correct, but that, in his opinion, the UFC was right to remove him from the July attraction.

The UFC will hold, on Friday (22), a press conference with the protagonists of UFC 200 to promote the event. McGregor refused to participate, as he intends to remain in Iceland carrying out his training. Ultimate then removed the Irishman from the attraction.

In a press conference reproduced by the “MMA Junkie” website, Johnson stated that, as tiring as the routine of promoting events can be, it is something that is part of a fighter's obligations. “Do I agree with this? You see, I've already traveled to Australia to work as a coach. I traveled from Seattle to Los Angeles, Los Angeles to Sydney, Sydney to Brisbane, Brisbane to Melbourne, Melbourne to Sydney, Sydney to Los Angeles, Los Angeles to Seattle, and then I trained for six weeks. I did the same thing and then fought. This is how I make money, this is how I pay my bills. Whenever the UFC asks me to do these things, I never say no”, commented the fighter.

Johnson, however, avoided criticizing McGregor for the decision, as, in his opinion, the Irishman has the right to do what he believes is right. “The good thing is that the UFC said: 'See, if you don't come to the press conference, we're going to take you out of the event.' And Conor said, 'Great, thanks for the money. I am out'. Everyone is doing what they have the right to”, he analyzed.
