After the regulation of MMA in the state of New York, it was a matter of time before the UFC announced its first event in the most populous city in the United States. The debut of Ultimate at the legendary Madison Square Garden gym is already scheduled and will take place on November 12th.
The announcement of the card was made by UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta in the act that marked the signing of the law that released the practice of professional MMA in New York, which had been vetoed since the end of the 90s. The card at MSG will also mark the 23rd anniversary of Ultimate, which promoted its first event in November 1993.
“We have a number of UFC athletes here in New York, and I can tell you that they have worked exhaustively to achieve this. I would like to announce that, with the approval of the New York Athletic Commission, we will host our first event here at Madison Square Garden on November 12th. I'm really looking forward to bringing the first UFC to the Garden”, said the director, who was surrounded by several athletes, many of them from New York, such as aljamain sterling, Chris Weidman and the former champion Ronda Rousey.
