The UFC has already started the countdown to its first attraction in Brazil in 2016. It will be UFC 198, at Arena da Baixada, in Curitiba (PR), an event scheduled for May 14th. According to the organization's director in Brazil, Giovani Decker, it will be the first of three Ultimate visits to the country this year, with the other two expected to take place in the second half of the year.

According to the director, the company's original plan is to bring the Octagon back to Brazil in September and November. “One thing I learned in a year in this business is that MMA is very dynamic. But the idea is to have an event in September and another in November. We are still negotiating the cities and it would be premature for me to say more details, but the idea is to hold three events in 2016”, explained Decker, at a press conference

However, the director clarified that the two attractions in the second half should not follow the standards of UFC 198, which made up its star-studded card. “We raised the bar too high and everyone expects the next events to be like this one, but fans need to understand that this one in particular is historic,” said the manager.

According to Decker, the events in September and November should follow the pattern of UFC Fight Night 77, held in November 2015 in São Paulo (SP). The fight night featured Vitor belfort x Dan Henderson, Glover Teixeira x Patrick Cummins, in addition to the participation of the promising Thomas almeida.
