Conor McGregor continues to have high prestige within the UFC despite his defeat to Nate diaz last Saturday (5). The organization's president, Dana White, praised the Irishman for his initiative in moving up two categories to compete at UFC 196, in Las Vegas (USA).

Crowned featherweight champion (up to 66 kg) in December last year, McGregor would face the lightweight title holder (70 kg), Rafael dos Anjos, at UFC 196. The Brazilian, however, was injured and was replaced by Diaz in a fight that would take place at welterweight (77 kg).
Despite McGregor being submitted in the second round, White praised the fighter's attitude, indicating that Georges St Pierre, one of the greatest athletes in UFC history, never made a similar decision.
“That’s the thing: Nobody wants to do this. GSP would never move up to middleweight to fight Anderson Silva. He never would. That's why the fight was so fun. Do you know how many times we tried to GSP against Anderson Silva? But no one agrees to do that. That's why Conor McGregor It's so unique, fascinating and fun. GSP didn't want to move up a category, but Conor McGregor went up two at once”, compared the leader, in an interview with the North American “ESPN Radio”.
In his next fight, McGregor will return to featherweight and defend his belt. Your opponent must be José Aldo ou Frankie Edgar.
