Already keeping an eye on the likely fight, Edgar learned lessons from McGregor's performance against Diaz, which made him observe his rival's weaknesses. “The act of giving up is within him. I don't want to kick someone who is on the ground, but giving up is within him. We had already seen this before he even entered the UFC. It seems like he didn't try to free himself [from the chokehold]. He hit quickly”, analyzed Edgar, in an interview with the “FOX Sports” website.

Therefore, Edgar believes that, if McGregor really wants to turn things around, he should face him in his next fight, and not have a rematch with him. José Aldo, defeated by the Irishman in just 13 seconds in December. “If you want redemption, fight whoever offers you the greatest threat, not the guy you knocked out a while ago. Does he want to prove that what happened to Nate was an outlier? Fight the guy who can do the same to him. If Conor wants to show that he is the king and silence the critics, fight me, not the guy who just beat him”, he fired.
