More than the Brazilian's second consecutive defeat in the octagon, the setback Erick silva for Nordine Taleb at UFC 196 was marked by a moment of lack of “fair play” by the X-Gym athlete, who pretended to extend his hand to greet his rival and took advantage of the moment to attack him with a punch. A few days after the confrontation, Erick spoke publicly about what happened in a long outburst, in which he admitted that his conduct was unethical.

“I admit that in the heat of the fight I let my emotions act and ended up doing something not worthy of martial art! At the time, I confess that it went unnoticed, but, analyzing the video, I'm not saying that I was disloyal or a cheat, because there is nothing in the rules that says you can't do that. But as a martial artist I was unethical. I’m also not saying that the defeat was karma or deserved for that reason, it was exactly due to the merits of a perfect blow from my opponent, who applied it very well and trained to catch me like that”, wrote Silva, on his official profile on Instagram.

Anyone makes mistakes, everyone makes mistakes. Me, you, him or them. We all make mistakes and we must first recognize mistakes rationally and not do them again.

On the other hand, I'm happy. Happy to have had a good training camp, I was physically very well prepared and happy with all my changes in the last few months. I didn't leave with the result I wanted, but I left with the knowledge that I did everything in my training correctly.

I want to thank everyone who supports me regardless of the result, and even those who don't support me from the heart.

PUBLICITY:

I also want to especially thank my coaches for all their patience.
