Shinya Aoki beats Brazilian Marcus Aurélio

The sixteenth edition of Dream took place in the early hours of this Saturday, in Nagoya, Japan. With just one Brazilian in action, Marcus Aurelius was no match for the effective ground game of Shinya Aoki. The Japanese worked well on his takedowns and remained on top throughout the fight, with no forceful blows and no opportunity to finish, the home athlete took victory by the judges' decision. In the main fight of the night, Gegard Mousasi finished Tatsuya Mizuno and won the light heavyweight belt on the show.

Another highlight of the event was the victory of the former Japanese judoka Satoshi Ishii, gold medalist at the Beijing Olympics, who defeated his compatriot Ikuhisa minowa in the judges' decision. Already Kazushi Sakuraba suffered yet another defeat for his record. The veteran fighter was submitted, in the first round, by the North American Jason Miller with a triangle.
