Minotauro will accompany his brother at UFC 119

Still recovering from surgery on his left knee, the Bahian Rodrigo “Minotauro” will undergo a new surgical intervention, this time on the hip. Doctors' forecast for the heavyweight's return to fighting varies from five to six months.

Due to medical problems, “Minotauro” had to cancel his participation in UFC 119, which takes place tomorrow (25) in Indianapolis, where he would face the North American Frank mir in the main fight of the night. To replace the Brazilian, the UFC organization called up the Croatian Mirko cro cop, who also had injury problems during his preparation for the fight (remember here), but it is confirmed at the event. Although “Minotauro” is away from the Octagon, the former PRIDE heavyweight champion will be present at UFC 119 to help prepare his twin brother Rogério “Minotouro”, who will face the North American Ryan bader in the light heavyweight category.

According to “Minotauro”, the UFC heavyweight division is full of good fighters. For the Bahian, there are six athletes who are in a position to be champions of the category, a fact that motivates him even more to return to the activity.

PUBLICITY:

“I'm very excited to be part of a category that has the best fighters today. This makes me remember my time at Pride,” he said.

When asked about the fight for the UFC heavyweight belt, which will take place on October 23rd at UFC 121, between North Americans Brock Lesnar e Cain Velazquez, “Minotauro” believes that the category will have a new champion.

PUBLICITY:

“Lesnar may have some advantage during the fight due to his size, but Velasquez is a much more complete fighter and his ground game will make the difference in the end”, said the Brazilian.

Despite losing two of his last three UFC fights to Cain Velazquez e Frank mir, defeats by knockout and technical knockout, respectively, “Minotauro” highlighted that the UFC heavyweight belt is still in his plans.

“I'll try, I'll try”, he concluded.
