Nate Marquardt beats the Brazilian Rousimar Toquinho in controversial fight

Bad night for Brazilians at UFC Fight Night 22, an event held this Wednesday (15), in Austin, in the United States. Of the four Brazilian athletes in action, only Charles 'from the Bronx' left the Octagon victorious. In the main fight of the night, Nate marquardt took advantage of the Brazilian's naivety Rousimar Toquinho, who stopped the fight to complain about the American's use of Vaseline, and ended up knocking out the black belt in the first round. Already Gleison Tibau e Rafael 'Sapo' were surpassed by Jim Miller e Rich Attonito respectively.

The main fight of the night started out very studied, with Rousimar measuring the distance to look for the takedown and Nate looking for spaces to work with his punches. After managing to take the fight to the ground, the Brazilian started to end the duel with his specialty, the heel hook, but the American defended well and stayed on his feet. Toquinho stopped to complain about the use of Vaseline to the referee, but Marquardt was quick to pull the trigger and started using ground and pound until the referee ended the fight, declaring a technical knockout. The result ends Rousimar's streak of three consecutive victories and places Nate among the possible challengers for the middleweight belt, currently in possession of Anderson Silva

Charles “from the Bronx” shines and submits Efrain Escudero

With the right to show, Charles 'from the Bronx' proved that he arrived in the UFC to make history. Against the tough Efrain Escudero, the Brazilian dominated the first two rounds with great striking, using high kicks and good knees. In the last round, the Tupiniquim athlete came ready to define the fight. After suffering a low blow, Charles came back electric and applied a beautiful takedown on Escudeiro, without wasting time, the Brazilian reached the Mexican's back, ending the confrontation with a beautiful rear naked choke. With the result, the Brazilian extends his undefeated record, now having 14 career victories and finding a place among the 10 best lightweights in the UFC.

 

Jim Miller wins Gleison Tibau

In a very busy stand-up fight, Jim Miller and Gleison Tibau fought a balanced fight during the three rounds. In the first two rounds, the American connected the best blows while standing, while the Brazilian managed good takedowns, but without keeping the fight on the ground. In the last round, the athletes already felt the rhythm of the fight and the Brazilian had better moments, but it was already too late. In the end, victory Jim Miller in the unanimous decision of the judges (30-27, 29-28, 30-27)

 

Cole Miller finishes Ross Pearson

In the first fight on the main card, Cole Miller He started the duel against Englishman Ross Pearson with a disadvantage in striking. After losing the first round, the American tried to change his strategy in the second round and take the fight to the ground. However, Pearson defended the takedown attempts well and controlled the fight on the feet. But to the surprise of many, Cole applied a beautiful straight right that made Ross feel it, Miller took advantage and applied several crosses, taking the Englishman to the ground and ending the fight with a rear naked choke.

 

Rafael Sapo is defeated in the debut

The first Brazilian to enter the Octagon, Rafael 'Sapo' did not have the UFC debut he expected. Facing Rich Attonito, the Tupiniquim athlete had a balanced opening round against the American, he came to dominate in the second round, but was knocked down and suffered ground and pound in the last round. In the end, Rich Attonito won by unanimous decision from the judges (29-28, 29-28, 30-27).
