Brazilian with the most fights in the UFC, Gleison Tibau received a two-year suspension after being caught in an anti-doping test in his most recent fight, in November last year.
The potiguar, who defeated Abel Trujillo in the UFC Sao Paulo, failed two exams: one carried out weeks before the fight and another on the day of the fight. In both cases, the fighter was caught with erythropoietin, a substance that helps in the production of red blood cells, and, consequently, increases the athlete's aerobic capacity.
In addition to the suspension, Tibau will also see his victory converted into a defeat, so that Trujillo will be declared the winner of the fight. The change was announced by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (Usada), a company hired by the UFC to be responsible for testing athletes.
Tibau, 32 years old, has been a UFC athlete since 2006. Since then, the athlete has had 26 fights in the octagon, with 16 wins and ten losses.
