Shortly after being released to fight in the UFC, Jon Jones he once again appeared in the police news in the city of Albuquerque, in the United States, where he lives and trains. The former light heavyweight champion was involved in traffic problems and will have to appear in court later this week.
According to local broadcaster “KRQE”, Jones was caught on January 31st driving without a license, without car documents and without mandatory insurance. The fighter will participate in a hearing at the Albuquerque Court this Wednesday (10) to give testimony regarding the recent episodes.
The January episode is much less serious than previous traffic problems in which Jones was involved. In April last year, the fighter was involved in an accident in which he ran through a red light and collided with a car driven by a pregnant woman. Jones fled the scene on foot, without providing assistance to the victim, who was left with a fractured arm.
Shortly afterwards, the UFC removed Jones as light heavyweight champion and suspended the fighter indefinitely. After reaching an agreement with the courts, the athlete was reinstated back into the UFC. His next fight was officially confirmed last Saturday (6): he will face Daniel Cormier for the category title, on April 23, in Las Vegas (USA).
