After suffering two consecutive defeats, Luke Rockhold e Yoel romero, Lyoto Machida will be back in the octagon in April, when he faces Dan Henderson in the edition of UFC Fight Night scheduled for the city of Tampa, Florida (USA). Preparing for the rematch against the veteran, whom he already beat in 2013, Lyoto promised to reinvent himself as a fighter and said he was among the group of athletes with a chance of fighting for the title soon.

“I believe I am in the middle of the cake. The numbers never lie, I have great victories. I'm ready to fight for a new belt in the near future. I think the sport has evolved a lot. I have evolved, despite having suffered a defeat. But you have to look at this as part of your evolution, to improve. There is always space. It has to be reinventing itself”, said the “Dragão”, in an interview with the “Sensei SporTV” program.

The Brazilian's strategy to continue evolving is detachment, seeking to leave setbacks behind in search of rehabilitation in the octagon. “I’m not stuck with what happened. What's gone is gone. I try to look at the experience of this defeat as something that can help me in the future. Learning is constant, every day I am learning. Each fight taught me a little. Sometimes we forget what we did in the past, making the biggest sacrifice to get to each fight. Going through this again is important, getting back to base, training harder. If you feel a little uncomfortable, a little clumsy, you have to go back to your origin, your base. I’m reviewing everything I need to do to become a 100% fighter, champion,” he assured.

At 37, Lyoto Machida has a professional record of 22 wins and seven losses. Former UFC light heavyweight champion and former middleweight title challenger, Lyoto is currently fourth in the 84 kg category rankings.
