The UFC carried out its first “barge” of layoffs of the year by cutting 11 fighters from its roster at the beginning of 2016. The list includes two Brazilians, in addition to two other athletes who have a long history with the organization.

TUF Brazil 3 runner-up in the middleweight category, Márcio Lyoto was cut from Ultimate after losing all three of his fights in the octagon. In the first of them, he succumbed to Warlley alves in the decision of the reality show, in May 2014. After that, he suffered setbacks for Tim means and Court MGee, the latter in December last year.

Another cut was Valmir Bidu, who lost two of the three fights he had in the organization. The Brazilian was defeated by James Vick and Michel Trator, with just one victory over James Krause in a split decision by the judges, in February 2015.

Veterans Mike Pierce and Danny Castillo also appear on the list. Pierce, a UFC athlete since 2009, has faced names like John hendricks, Jon Fitch and Josh koscheck, and came from two defeats, to Rousimar Toquinho and Ryan LaFlare. Castillo, in turn, had an even worse record, with five defeats in his last six fights.
