The fight between Rafael dos Anjos e Clay guida It started in a mind-boggling way at UFC-117, and even though the Brazilian won the first round, he ended up getting the worst of it. This is because the black belt suffered two fractures to his jaw after a cross from the American and was forced to withdraw from the fight in the last round.
Shortly after the end of the first round, Rafael was already complaining to Roberto Gordo, his trainer, that he had broken part of his face and was no longer able to bite his mouth guard, but even so he continued in the fight, until he suffered from Guida's ground and pound in the last round and ended up giving up the fight.
Rafael is still in the United States where he will undergo correction surgery and should return to Brazil next Saturday.
The California Athletic Commission, the entity that sanctioned UFC-117, suspended Rafael dos Anjos for 180 days without contact or until fully recovered from the injury. Check out Guida's cross that fractured the Brazilian's jaw below.
