Member of Hall of Fame of the UFC and retired since July 2014, the former lightweight and welterweight champion B.J. Penn is officially back in MMA. After challenging Nik lentz for a possible comeback fight, Penn confirmed that he went back on his decision to hang up his gloves and revealed the motivation behind his decision.

“This is me, this is what I do. I want to have the featherweight belt, it's definitely a big motivation for me. I believe that with Greg Jackson's help I can achieve this. And I think I will be able to become the only man with three titles in three (different) weight divisions”, said the Hawaiian, in an interview with the program “The MMA Hour”.
In addition, Penn also emphasized the importance of coach Greg Jackson, the same as Jon Jones e Holly holm, in your decision. “If I didn’t have someone like Greg Jackson to support me and tell me I can do this… Of course you’re always going to believe that you’re the best, that you can be the champion. But sometimes you need to take a step back and listen to some people’s opinions”, he guaranteed.
At 37, B.J. Penn has a professional record of 16 wins, ten defeats and two draws. The Hawaiian last fought in July 2014, at TUF 19 Finale, when he was defeated in the finale of his trilogy against Frankie Edgar and announced for the second time that he would retire from MMA. Penn is one of two fighters in history, alongside Randy Couture, to hold two belts in different UFC categories.
