Controversial judges' decisions are often the subject of debate in the fight world. Several times, MMA and boxing fights end controversially, when judges give victory to the fighter who, in the eyes of the public, did not obtain a real advantage during the duel. But, even though several athletes have been outraged by scores in the past, boxer Renald Garrido overcame himself and staged a real outbreak.
Garrido faced Russian Azlanbek Kozaev in Valencia, Spain, last Saturday (9). After eight rounds of competition, the Frenchman exuded confidence in his victory on points. But, to his surprise, the judges overwhelmingly favored the Russian – that is, two judges gave Kozaev a win, and one gave a draw.
Garrido's reaction is so intense it's hilarious. Immediately after the announcement, the boxer ran towards the corner and threw punches at the protective foam. He then made obscene gestures, possibly aimed at the judges, and ran aimlessly around the ring swearing. Then, the final touch: he lowered his shorts and was in his underwear.
Satisfied with the result or not, Garrido suffered his 13th defeat in professional boxing, compared to 15 wins and one draw.
