Former UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk will try to regain his belt on May 24, at the event to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Sherk lost his belt due to the use of illegal substances, in his victory against Brazilian Hermes França, at UFC-73, in July 2007. He was suspended for 12 months and lost the category title, later having his sentence reduced to 6 months, but was unable to regain his belt.
The Muscular Shark, as Sherk is known, will face the winner of the fight between B.J. Penn and Joe Stevenson, valid for the interim lightweight title, which will be held next Saturday, at UFC-80.
