Former boxer Floyd Mayweather accused the public of being biased and racist after seeing the meteoric success of Conor McGregor in the world of MMA in recent years.

McGregor quickly gained notoriety by combining an aggressive fighting style with a confident speech, which quickly transformed him into one of the biggest stars of the moment. However, Mayweather says that the Irishman is praised for doing exactly what he himself did in the past and earned him countless criticisms.

“I don’t actually know McGregor, I’ve never seen him fight. I've heard his name. They say he talks a lot of nonsense, but people praise him for it. When I did this, people called me arrogant and pretentious. It's a very biased thing. I'm not racist, but I say that racism still exists”, said Mayweather, in an interview with the North American website “FightHype”.

Even though he was widely criticized, Mayweather was one of the fighters who gained the most prominence in the boxing world in recent years. Recently retired, the American is considered the highest paid athlete on the planet. His last fight was in September, when he won his 49th victory in 49 fights.
