Paulão and Denis Kang draw
After having a lot of difficulty breaking the weight limit for the category, Paul Philo started the fight against Denis Kang badly. After being on the bottom for almost the entire first round, the Brazilian came back better in the second round where he took down, passed the guard and mounted the Canadian, but was unable to find space to finish or work his punches from above and still had to defend himself in the final moments. , when Kang managed the reversal and was on top. In the third round, again, Paulão took the fight to the ground and, on top, he was unable to work with ground and pound. In the judges' paperwork Evan Bzadough scored 29×28 for Paulão, Brett Hinde noted 30×27 for Kang and Charlie Keech saw 29×29. A draw is declared.
Murilo Bustamante is surpassed by Jesse Taylor
Returning to MMA fighting after three years away, Murilo Bustamante was surpassed by Jesse Taylor.
