Next in line to fight for the UFC featherweight belt, Frankie Edgar believes he has the ideal style to unseat the new category champion, Conor McGregor. The American, former lightweight champion, has already been confirmed as a future challenger for the belt, and believes he has all the conditions to win his second title in the organization.

Edgar comes from a recent victory over Chad Mendes in the TUF 22 Finale, on the 11th. Mendes had faced McGregor himself shortly before, bothering the Irishman with takedowns for a round and a half until he was knocked out at the end of the second round.

“I think I’m your kryptonite. Did you see what Chad did to him having fought on 15 days notice? Chad hadn't stayed at the gym, whereas I do a lot. Give me good training and time to prepare and I will be the guy to beat McGregor”, said Edgar, according to the North American website “MMA Weekly”.

The Irishman has already revealed his plan to fight for the lightweight belt in April, in New York, and defend the featherweight title against Edgar at UFC 200, in Las Vegas. The American, however, disagreed: “I would love to face McGregor at Madison Square Garden [a gym in New York]. It would be everything, it would be perfect. There are a lot of Irish people in New York,” added Edgar, referring to the event that has not yet been officially confirmed in the city due to the still-current ban on MMA in the state.
