UFC FN 80: Women's duel opens marathon of fights

This Thursday (10), the UFC begins the biggest fight marathon in its more than 20 years of history. The biggest MMA organization on the planet will hold three events in three days, starting with a relatively modest attraction and crowning the week with the long-awaited duel between José Aldo e Conor McGregor.

The mission to open the schedule will be UFC Fight Night 80, an event that will be held at The Cosmopolitan, in Las Vegas (USA). And, even though the biggest stars of the week are ready to fight on Friday and Saturday, the attraction has some interesting fights, which makes for a busy event in the world capital of fights.

The main duel of the night will be between the strawweights paige vanzant e Rose namajunas. Ex-cheerleader, VanZant is one of Ultimate's biggest rising stars, combining beauty with hard-hitting performances inside the octagon. However, the 21-year-old will face the toughest challenge of her career: Namajunas is runner-up in TUF 20, with a sharp ground game that promises to upset her rival.

Who has also attracted the spotlight at UFC FN 80 is Sage Northcutt, 19 years old, youngest athlete under contract with Ultimate. The North American is also seen as showing great promise for the future and lived up to expectations with an overwhelming victory in his UFC debut. Now, facing Cody Pfister, Northcutt will have to prove that he knows how to deal with public attention and confirm his favoritism in the fight.

But UFC FN 80 won't just feature newcomers. One of the most anticipated fights of the night will be between the veterans Jim Miller e Michael chiesa, at lightweight, in a fight that promises movement and twists on the ground.

This Thursday's attraction will feature four Brazilians: Thiago Marreta faces Elias Theodorou, Sergio Moraes face Omari Akhmedov, Antonio Shoe Guy take Kevin Casey and Johnny Eduardo will face the promising aljamain sterling. The Argentinean is also present Santiago Ponzinibbio, who gained fame in Brazil with his participation in TUF BR 2.
